Catch Basin Installation Butler, PA

Catch Basins, aka storm drains, are a large underground reservoir that collects and disperses runoff water.

They are a versatile drainage solution that can be used as a standalone solution or you can implement a larger system.

Depending on your what you are looking for, you can get catch basins and grates in different shapes and sizes.

You can use catch basins in a number of different scenarios, including gardens, driveways, under downspout drains, and anywhere else your water is running off to.

They are then connected to a drainpipe that runs the water to a ditch or some other designated area.

How a Catch Basin Drainage System Works

A catch basin shuttles water away from your home through buried pipes to a safer location.

Here's a walkthrough of where the water goes from the sky down:

  1. Catch basin grate: Water exits the bottom of the downspout or down a slope and runs through the catch basin's top grate.

  2. Catch basin: Water rises in the catch basin until it reaches the exit pipe.

  3. Pipes: Buried 3-inch or 4-inch pipes running on a decline carry the water away.

  4. Exit Point: Water leaves the end of the drainage pipe, soaking into the ground or flowing away.

Advantages of Catch Basins

  • Prevents flooding or pooling of water in an undesirable location

  • Protects Property and Your Foundation

  • Inconspicuous while adhering to the landscaping around it

  • Low Cost
